There’s a buttery softness to silver that is tangible, (literally. That silver is a precious metal is not a new idea to me. What is new—and honestly still a bit astounding—is what has happened to the price of silver over the last two years. It has more than quadrupled.

As we move toward the end of the year, I find myself wanting to pause for a moment—to take a breath, look around, and really think about what’s next. With 2026 on the horizon, it feels like the right time to share some of the changes happening at LBJ and the thinking behind them.
One of the most immediate changes you’ll notice is our studio hours. Like many small businesses, we’re adjusting our schedule to better reflect how we actually work, create, and serve our community. These changes are about sustainability—making sure LBJ continues to be a place of creativity, connection, and care, not just for our customers, but behind the scenes as well.
Another major factor influencing change is the cost of materials—especially metals. Over the past year, the price of sterling silver has tripled. That’s a dramatic shift, and one that impacts every part of jewelry making, from design decisions to pricing to sourcing. It’s impossible to ignore, and honestly, it shouldn’t be ignored.
Instead, I’m choosing to look at this moment as an opportunity.
Rising metal prices have pushed me to reexamine everything: materials, processes, designs, and even long-held assumptions about how things “should” be done. That kind of reevaluation can feel uncomfortable, but it’s also incredibly valuable. In business—and in life—being forced to slow down and look with fresh eyes often leads to better, more intentional choices.
As we move forward, LBJ will continue to evolve. Some things may look different, but the heart of the work remains the same: thoughtful design, quality materials, meaningful experiences, and jewelry made with care.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Pausing doesn’t mean standing still—it means moving forward with intention. And that feels like the right way to head into 2026.
Happy New Year!

I opened this shop because I love stones, I love making jewelry, and I love sharing that joy with others. But I could never have imagined how much energy you would bring in with you. How your excitement would amplify mine. How the simple act of holding a rock—something ancient, something that existed long before us and will exist long after—could connect us all so deeply.

This gemstone’s allure goes beyond its striking appearance; it holds a rich history and profound spiritual significance that has endured through the ages.

With the cost of silver skyrocketing, and with new tariffs now affecting the cost of stones and materials, we’re all facing a new reality. At LBJ we're working on the same playing field as everyone else—and we’re navigating these changes with our values intact.

There’s something timeless and tender about pearls. Maybe it’s the way they glow from within, like moonlight caught in a shell. Maybe it’s the mystery in their luster, that we cannot quite replicate - that silky, satiny surface that seems to whisper secrets of the sea.
In my lifetime I've seen pearls as a traditional 'look' for a lady. At church, or the fancy folks at the Country Club. For me as a child it wasn't the best association to represent 'me' I thought.
My how things change!
Of course we see pearls representing so much MORE these days. Not only a symbol of strength worn by women of power, but more and more I see pearls crossing all gender and style boundaries.
Pearls are strong - incredibly so. Not just in their structure, but in what they represent. Each pearl begins as an irritation, an intruder, a grain of sand or parasite that somehow finds its way into the tender heart of an oyster or mollusk. And rather than rejecting it, the creature responds by layering nacre over and over again, turning discomfort into something radiant. There’s something deeply poetic in that process—a quiet alchemy, a transformation of struggle into beauty.
No two pearls are alike. They’re complex, built layer by delicate layer, over years. That complexity makes them feel soulful. Ancient. They’ve been revered across cultures and continents—from Cleopatra’s infamous pearl cocktail to the heirlooms passed down through generations. They are a symbol of wisdom, purity, and resilience.
It’s no surprise, then, that pearls are one of June’s birthstones, along with alexandrite and moonstone—two other luminous stones that play with light and color in their own magical ways.
So yes—how do I love thee, pearls?
For your mystery.
For your strength.
For the quiet way you turn pressure into grace.
You’re not just a gem. You’re a story.

The romance of the past, the vibrant colors of the Caribbean and the spaces created by the wonder of history have had a big part in imagining the new Havana Collection at LBJ.

Why do certain rocks call to us? Maybe it’s their energy, their ancient wisdom, or just the sheer beauty of nature’s artwork. Maybe it’s a deep, instinctual connection—something in our bones telling us that these little treasures matter.
