You guys!
I admit it. I have always marveled at the exquisite beauty of pearl knotted jewelry but I’ve never felt confident in my own knotting abilities. My journey to becoming a pearl knotting expert began with a simple desire to learn this fascinating craft. What started as a casual interest turned into a passion, and now I'm thrilled to offer a new workshop to share my knowledge with others.
I knew I needed to start with the basics. I practiced the technique until I could tie consistent, tight knots that were evenly spaced. This foundation was crucial before moving on to knotting pearls. Once I felt confident in my knot-tying abilities, it was time to move on to the real challenge: knotting pearls. I carefully selected a variety of pearls and started stringing them onto my silk thread. I quickly learned that each pearl had its unique personality and required a slightly different approach when knotting.
One of the key techniques I mastered was ensuring the knots were tight enough to securely hold each pearl in place without damaging them. Achieving the perfect balance took practice, but it was incredibly satisfying to see my skills improve with each pearl I knotted.
Generally speaking, knotting is not something that comes naturally to me. It requires a great deal of focus and concentration - it is very easy to find yourself with thread tangled, or the knots not holding as securely as hoped. However, I persisted and learned from my mistakes, which ultimately makes me a better knotter - if not perfect.
One of the most significant challenges I faced was developing patience. Pearl knotting is a meticulous art that demands attention to detail and a calm demeanor. Through practice, I learned to enjoy the meditative quality of the craft, finding solace in the rhythm of knotting pearls.
Becoming an expert in pearl knotting doesn't happen overnight and I am still learning - but I finally feel confident enough to teach a basic but very rewarding workshop. I'm excited to share my passion with others. I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be offering a new workshop to teach this fun and easy pearl knotting technique. Whether you're a complete novice or someone looking to refine your skills, this workshop will guide you through the process step by step.
My journey from novice to expert in the art of pearl knotting has been both fulfilling and enlightening. What began as a casual interest has turned into a deep passion, and I can't wait to help others embark on their own pearl knotting journey. If you've ever wanted to create your own beautiful pearl jewelry, join me in my workshop, and together, we'll discover the art and joy of pearl knotting.

LBJ Workshops are here to stay!
The jewelry-making workshops at LBJ have been a super fun and transformative experience for me. I’ve learned more than any of the attendees! Moreover, I've discovered that the art of jewelry crafting is therapeutic in ways I never anticipated. When people enter the studio - they enter the creative zone - which is a great place to be! The process demands presence and focus. When we’re in the workshop, we find ourselves fully immersed in the task at hand, leaving behind the stresses of everyday life. It's a form of meditation, a way to quiet the mind and channel creativity.
I absolutely love sharing my studio with people - it’s so much fun!. One of the remarkable things about making beaded jewelry is its seemingly straightforward process - after all, it’s stringing beads. We learned that in kindergarten. However, the heart of jewelry crafting lies in its design. The ability to envision a piece, choose the right materials, and harmonize elements into a coherent and beautiful whole is both challenging and rewarding. And, beyond the tangible results – JEWELRY - there's something incredibly therapeutic about the act of making jewelry. And jewelry making offers a tangible sense of accomplishment.

This beautiful gem receives its name from the French word for gold, péridot. It is also said to have gotten its name from the Arabic word for gem, faridat.
The gem forms part of the olivine family and is sourced from the peridotite rock. The peridot gemstone is found in meteorites, lava and within the earth’s mantle. This implies that some of these peridot stones are ancient, with some saying that they are a by-product of the birth of our solar system.
Peridot’s signature green color comes from the composition of the mineral itself—rather than from trace impurities, as with many gemstones. That’s why this is one of few gemstones that only comes in one color, though shades may vary from yellowish-green to olive to brownish-green, depending on how much iron is present.

The peridot birthstone is August’s official birthstone, as well as that of the 16th wedding anniversary. In addition to being symbolic of these two milestones, the peridot crystals bring the wearer peace, rest, and health by promoting strength and balance. It’s also believed to boost your mood and improve creativity.

One of the biggest trends for 2023 is the resurgence of silver jewelry.
After years spent extolling the wonders of gold jewelry, silver jewelry has emerged—or re-emerged—as the prominent metal in 2023.
Silver jewelry has hailed as one of 2023’s biggest jewelry trends, both on the runway and off, according to Marie Claire Magazine.
While many of us never really left silver behind entirely, both the Spring/Summer 2023 and Fall/Winter 2023 runways proved that silver is the metal to wear for the months ahead.
In 2023, the extra long earring trend also continues to make a bold fashion statement. Designers are pushing the boundaries of earring lengths, resulting in striking and eye-catching styles.
No matter the trend, what is important is that the jewelry piece chosen resonates with you! Happy Spring!
